Apple Software Update

Apple fans know that there is anticipation for the release of major software updates in September. The new releases for Mac is Sequoia (MacOS 15) and  for IOS 18 for iPhone and iPad. Users will find some of the features shared between the two systems as the platforms will move closer to overlapping functions.

Here are some highlights in MacOS:

  • Continuity with iPhone Mirroring
  • Password – an app for apple products and on Windows with the iCloud for Windows app to better manage your passwords
  • Safari will be able to “highlight” relevant information through machine leaning.
  • More games for Mac
  • AI – with Apple Intelligence a new feature only for Mac with the M1 chip or higher.
  • Scenes in FreeForm
  • Collections in Photos
  • Text effects in Messages
  • Presenter preview for video conferencing working with Zoom, FaceTime and other apps
  • Better maps for hiking
  • ApplePay on third party browsers
  • IOS notifications on Mac
  • Better window tiling
  • Redesigned Reader
  • A new calculator app
  • Improved interface between Calendar and Reminder apps
  • Send later in Messages
  • Easier to install large apps
  • And the usual tweaks and bug fixes

The update on Mac will run on:

  • iMac from 2019 and later
  • Mac Pro from 2019 and later
  • iMac Pro from 2017
  • Mac Studio from 2022 and later
  • MacBook Air from 2020 and later
  • Mac mini from 2018 and later
  • MacBook Pro from 2018 and later

Apple Intelligence will help with writing and communications with offers to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text in writing focused apps such as Mail, Notes, Pages and third-party apps. We’ll see better capabilities to clean up unwanted background in photos. Siri will be able to offload some queries in a private cloud to provide better answers. You can also type queries to Siri.
