Lessons That Life Can Teach Us

Lessons That Life Can Teach Us But Some Take A Lifetime To Learn Them.

When doctors tell you, that your time is limited some people experience a wave of regret and sadness for missed opportunities. You can’t take life for granted. No matter how much or how little money we have, we all share only 24 hours in a day.

Here’s few to ponder on:

  • Failures are lessons in disguise – even geniuses have them. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
  • Live in the moment – don’t worry about the past or agonize over the future. Apply what you know to your current life. Have a plan but don’t overthink it.
  • Live for yourself- don’t be overly pressured by others’ expectations. Ask yourself what do I really want?
  • Work hard but not too hard – our families can be treasures and we should not miss the experiences with a partner and children. Keep time for your family and close friends.
  • Don’t let procrastination make you a slave. – don’t waste time or you’ll pay more to catchup. Resist the urge to put off what needs to be done.
  • Actions say who you really are – Words are one thing, but deeds say it all.
  • Kindness is so important – Give more than you receive in relationships. Be generous. Smile or greet others as it may be the only smile they see today.
  • Be grateful – don’t focus on what you don’t have. Look around and see how lucky you are. Gratitude can bring happiness. Start today to show appreciation. In your private time, give thanks to whomever you believe to be a higher being for what you have.

The words in Tim McGraw’s poignant song, Live Like You Were Dying point out some of these lessons.

He learned the end might be near so he:

  • Went skydiving
  • Went Rocky Mountain climbing
  • Rode 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
  • Loved deeper
  • Spoke sweeter
  • Gave forgiveness which he had been denying
  • Became a husband that he had not been
  • Became a friend that a friend would like to have
  • Went fishing with his dad instead of considering it an imposition.

These things are not hard to do, we just need to want to do them before it’s too late.
