MacOS Ventura Overview

 

  • Improved context sensitive searching in Mail
  • Spotlight can help find text in Photos, Messages, Notes, and Finder or Web
  • Use Live Text to search for an image based on text inside it. Use Quick Look by pressing Space bar
  • Spotlight can even set an alarm, find name of a song with Shazam or run a shortcut
  • Passkeys introduce a more secure way to sign in
  • In Safari, share tabs and bookmarks when you are working on something with your team or partner. They can add tabs too.
  • Messages now allow edits of a message you just sent (there is a time limit of course) or You can mark a message as unread so you can come back to it.
  • SharePlay via Messages to watch a show or listen to a song with a friend while chatting about it. You can also share notes, presentations, Safari Tab groups in Messages
  • Photo Library allows you to share photos or videos with family even if you are not the one who snapped the photo or edited the video. This will require setup in Photos.
  • Stage Manager organizes your apps and windows in a single view so you can stay focused on tasks. Eases switching between app and workspaces.
  • FaceTime handoff allows you to switch between devices.
  • Use iPhone as your webcam. Simply bring your iPhone close to your Mac and it automatically switch to use the powerful iPhone camera input. It is wireless too, so no cable is needed. This includes Center Stage. You can stay centered in the camera frame during video calls or meetings even as you move around.
  • Desk View mimics an overhead camera showing your desk and face at the same time.
  • Games load faster and visuals and performance are accelerated.
  • Freeform is a borderless document too share with as many as 100 others. Multiple tools to create your own ideas. Type, draw, add shapes, links or pictures.
  • Systems settings has been redesigned to be more like IOS devices. It gets easier to navigate when all devices have a similar motif.
  • Privacy and security have been upgraded with more enhanced encryption. Recently deleted albums are locked by default.
  • Accessibility is improved. Turn audio into text in real time and follow along with conversations and media. Voice control spelling mode allows you to dictate more difficult spellings letter by letter.
