Just saying…
Some thoughts:
- Good decisions can become a habit
- Bad habits often lead to bad decisions
- Do an autopsy on good ones and bad ones, ask Why?
- Don’t wait as it may be too late.
- History is a great teacher.
- Must properly define the problem or specifically what you are to do… otherwise you’ll get the wrong answer.
- Look at alternatives as you may be comfortable in the old way. But there may be better ways to solve the problem.
- How would it look to the public if someone wrote a news article on your decision?
- Consider your gut feelings/emotions – trust them, take your time to decide but not too long
- Don’t put your ladder against the wrong wall.
- Write down what you know about the issue if this is a significant issue.
- What’s the cost of not deciding?
- Be sure what you decide aligns with your values for big decisions.
- Make an honest assessment of current method you use.
- Have a process to decide something you can rely on and that fits how you do things so you can use it in the future.
- Maybe discuss the idea with a friend or trusted colleague.
