MacOS 27

Around mid September we should see the release of Apple’s newest operating system, Golden Gate, aka MacOS 27 and the sister versions for iPhones and other Apple devices. We’ve been promised a more responsive and useful Siri and it looks like it will arrive.

Here are a few things we should see:

  1. Liquid Glass transparency – users can adjust the translucency for a more tailored experience.
  2. AI- driven automation for the Shortcut app which can recognize patterns in our workflow automation and natural language processing. Looks like you will be able to dictate to Siri a particular task and it will create it in Shortcut. You can refine it as needed.
  3. Airdrop and Airplay will be faster for sharing files and streaming across devices
  4. Photos will have expanded background editing options and a tool to better identify objects, landmarks or other details from screenshots.
  5. More natural language processing (NLP) for system wide searches and improved Siri
  6. More markdown support in Apple Note with better formatting and dividers to organize information
  7. Siri AI: A completely redesigned Siri powered by Apple Intelligence that can understand personal context, answer questions from the web, and take actions across apps.
  8. Visual Intelligence on Mac: Ask questions about anything on your screen, including images, files and text, using a dedicated shortcut.
  9. Safari AI Tools: Automatically groups related tabs, monitors websites for changes such as price drops, and can even generate custom extensions from a description.
  10. Apple Intelligence across apps: Adds AI-powered features to Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos and Shortcuts to help write, organize, edit and automate tasks.
  11. Child Safety Upgrades: Introduces Ask to Browse, Time Allowances, enhanced Communication Safety and redesigned parental controls to help keep children safe online.
  12. Conversational AI assistant: Siri AI will be far more capable than previous versions of Siri, according to Apple, allowing users to ask open-ended questions, brainstorm ideas, conduct research, and hold natural back-and-forth conversations rather than relying on simple voice commands.
  13.  Dedicated Siri app: macOS 27 will offer a standalone Siri app that stores conversations in one place and sync them across Apple devices through iCloud. For example, users could start a conversation on their Mac and continue it later on their iPhone or iPad.
  14. Personal context awareness: Siri will be able to understand information stored across your messages, emails, notes, photos and files. Apple says Siri will be able to locate specific information, find content you’ve saved in the past, and surface relevant details based on your personal data.
  15. Web-powered answers: Unlike previous versions of Siri, Siri AI will be able to access up-to-date information from the web to answer questions on virtually any topic. Apple says it will be able to help with research, interview preparation, learning new subjects and gathering information quickly.

This list is not all inclusive as more features may be announced before launch.
