Your Apple Pencil Pro Has Some Tricks To Try.

For compatible iPads, the Apple Pencil Pro* has some features beyond just shading or selecting. Depending on how you hold it and in certain apps, applying more pressure to the stylus will result in a bolder line. It can also detect hand positions as you tilt the stylus. Roll it and the angle will result in a different application of digital ink. Lean with experimentation to see how it works.

Use the iPad’s Settings to add a double tap to switch tools or show the color pallet. Select the squeezing gesture can be adapted to perform more functions.

Create a note even before you unlock  by going to Settings>Apps>Notes>Access Notes from Lock Screen. This will allow you to create by making a tap on the display even if the iPad is asleep. This will create a new Apple Note. Also start a note anywhere you are by swimming diagonally with the Pencil rom the assigned bottom corner. See Settings>Apple Pencil to assign the corners.

The Pencil Pro has an AirTag like feature to help find it if misplaced by using Find My. It doesn’t beep like an AirTag but can give a fairly good location and prevent others from pairing it to their account.

The battery will last longer if you don’t let it run down completely too often. If the charge is zero, attaching with its magnetic “snap”  to the side of your iPad can change it quickly. A five minutes charge should give you about 20 minutes of usage.

You can turn your handwriting into text using the Scribble feature. Scratch out words to delete them or circle words to select them. Similarly, you can make room to write words by tapping and holding on the desired spot, and join or separate words by drawing a vertical line before or after the target. In the Pencil Pro, hand position variations are detected to change the shape of the writing tool. Supported iPads can imitate the tools shadow and show where the point will land on the page. Other features include a squeeze gesture can link you to other actions. A double tap lets you switch between tools, show the pallets or other actions.

* the Apple Pencil Pro is the latest in the lineup and has all the features discussed. Other apple pencils may not have them all.
